Property for sale in Ovacik
Ovacik, just up the hill from the holiday resort of Fethiye on Turkey’s Turquoise Coast, is currently enjoying healthy property sales, thanks to its great climate, unspoilt natural beauty and reasonable prices when compared with the cost of real estate elsewhere on the European continent.
Nestled at the foot of Mount Babadag in a forested valley overlooking the glittering blue waters of the Mediterranean, Ovacik has grown in tandem with the popularity of its neighbouring towns, Hisaronou and Fethiye. Both resorts benefit from good infrastructure, stunning beaches and proximity to the watersport hotspot of Oludeniz salt water lagoon, along with the superior paragliding to be found here.
Ovacik’s quiet, elevated position amongst almond and pine forests means that the town also enjoys a peaceful atmosphere and a pleasant mountain breeze which helps to keep temperatures a little cooler in summer than down on the beach. The area is also rich in history and the Lycian cave-tombs and Crusader fort, along with the ruins of the ancient city of Telemessos are all within easy reach.
It is also just five minutes’ or so drive from Hisaronu’s lively town centre with its many clubs, restaurants and bars, and close to the historical sights, shops and local markets of Olu Deniz town and Fethiye, along with medical facilities and internet access. The modernised Dalaman International Airport is around an hours’ drive away by taxi, thanks to the recent completion of the Gocek Tunnel, which has considerably shortened journey times.
Turkey’s growing popularity as a world class holiday destination has had a positive effect on resorts such as Ovacik, with many visitors choosing to purchase property in the area after a visit. Combined with reasonable property prices, the stable Turkish real estate market and the excellent climate, which allows for a particularly long summer tourism season, and you have the ingredients for the perfect holiday rental property. The area has also recently benefitted from the opening of a golf course in Dalaman, as well as a skiing resort at nearby Mount Eren which has helped to extend the tourist season to continue almost all year round. Investors are also finding that they can earn up to £10,000 per year in rental yields from investment properties in the Ovacik-Fethiye area.
Overseas buyers will find a good range of modern properties in Ovacik available, from freestanding villas with pools to duplexes on estates with landscaped gardens and extensive facilities, with most built to comply with EU standards. Overdevelopment in the area is also unlikely to occur, thanks to restrictions introduced by the Turkish government concerning areas of outstanding natural development, so buyers can rest assured that their views will not one day be ruined by high rises.
