Situated approximately 80km north of Alicante lies the picturesque coastal town of Javea, embedded between the two bays of cabo San Antonio and cabo San Martin and in the shadow of the Montgo Mountain. Home to over 31,000 residents, Javea offers an exciting mix of traditional Spain and the contemporary European lifestyle. During the busy summer period, the population of the town can swell up to over 100,000, as large numbers of tourist visit the region to sample the excellent beaches, stunning cuisine and warm Mediterranean climate.

The town of Javea can itself be split into three distinct areas, the Arenal, the harbour area and the traditional old town. These very distinct areas offer a wide variety of activities for residents and tourists alike, encompassing the very best of what Javea has to offer.

For many, the traditional port and harbour area (Duanes del Mar) offers an insight into the history of the Javea region, which itself dates back to the 15th century. Home to a number of excellent seafood restaurants, the port area is a good place to come and watch the world go by, sampling some of the superb seafood for which Javea is so well known.

The 'Old Quarter' is characterised by the local market, where locally caught seafood and fresh fruit and vegetables can be bought. For fans of historical architecture, the church of Sant Bartomeu dates back to the 14th century, and is now listed as a National Historic and Artistic Monument. The pockmarked walls of the church bear testimony to it's historical role during the Spanish Civil War.

The area for which Javea is most well known is arguably its famous Playa de Arenal beach area. This excellent beach is also home to a number of superb restaurants, bars and cafe's, and it's wide array of activities ensures that the vast majority of tourists while away the afternoons enjoying its fine, golden sands. Away from the hugely popular Arenal, there are a number of other excellent beaches including Granadella and the Portichol.

As well as enjoying the superb beaches and traditional architecture, there is huge amount of activities on offer throughout the Javea region. For fans of scuba diving, the Javea region offers some superb dive sites, whilst the Costa Blanca is now home to over 14 excellent golf courses.

Being situated midway between the major cities of Alicante and Valencia, Javea has excellent access via the major road network (A7 motorway) and international airports. There is a daily bus service to Madrid, and the nearest railway station is Gata de Gorgos, just a ten minute drive away.
